What if I just don’t want to go to the gym???


I learned in my Nutrition Assessment course at Texas State that you should always consider an individuals environment/living conditions when making your recommendations. So, what about the people that don’t even have access to a gym? Or maybe you just don’t WANT to go to a gym? You know what…that’s OK!!! When I was a new mom, going to a gym was completely out of the question for me. In fact, I hadn’t been to a gym at all before I entered my first bodybuilding competition. I have days when my kids might be home from school and so I just wake up super early and do a shoulder workout in my bedroom. Going to a gym is NOT required to get in shape. This workout consists of 3 days of resistance training, 2 days of cardio with 2 rest days. Workouts on each day should take approximately 35-45 minutes to complete. Necessary equipment includes a couple sets of dumbbells and possibly weightlifting bench. Both of which can be purchased at Target and are fairly inexpensive. I recorded the instructional videos for this workout and did every exercise in my living room with the use of my coffee table. Anytime I have published a workout here, it’s been at the request of someone. I put together this workout routine for a friend. The full workout can be provided upon request.

Resistance Training:

Upper body 2 days/week
Lower body 1 day/week

Upper body workout 1:
dumbell pullovers 4X12
tricep dips 4X12
overhead tricep ext. 4X15
flat fly’s 4X15

Cardio Routine
2X per week

    Thank you so much Leanna…this is amazing. I have worried in the past about not being able to get to a gym…the closest one is 40 minutes away. With work, the girls, animals and a hubby to take care of, being gone that length of time just doesn’t work. The encouragement is huge and I can’t say thank you enough!!

    Hi Leanna! I don’t have time to go to the Gym to get some help to exercise. I’m planning to go to Cabo in June. I need help to get me back in bikini shape. Can you send me some videos? BTW you look amazing! !
